GrossMeister Morshyn Cup: When Morshyn Became a Chess Capital for a Day
On November 15, 2025, the resort town of Morshyn turned into the center of Ukrainian chess. The international tournament GrossMeister Morshyn Cup took place at the local school-lyceum, organized by the Morshyn Chess Club with the support of the Lviv Regional Chess Federation and the premium sponsor — GrossMeister.
Tournament format: 9 intense rounds of rapid chess
The competition followed a 9-round Swiss system with a time control of 10 minutes + 5 seconds increment, a fast-paced rapid format that demands precision and focus.
The event gathered 120 participants from across Ukraine and abroad, including:

4 International Masters,

6 FIDE Masters,

nearly 20 National Masters of Ukraine.
Both experienced players and young talents competed side by side. Games were broadcast online, allowing chess fans to follow the action in real time.
